Print-on-demand is a marvellous thing. What do you mean you’ve never heard of it? Check out my publisher nerd post on the topic here. Or don’t bother with that and just be amazed that print-on-demand means that we can create completely personalised versions of our book, in which THE CENTRAL CHARACTER IS NAMED AFTER YOUR DAUGHTER. Her name currently is Phoebe, but it doesn’t have to be. It could be Emily, Sophie, Juno, Amber … whatever you want it to be!
We are excited because this week we sent off our first three personalised books to the printer. There was a personalised book for Frankie, one for Ava and one for Lillian. We can’t wait for them to be received and we hope that these little girls love seeing themselves in the story. We anticipate their delight as they read about planning their own mummies’ wedding.
Why not order a copy now for your little girl or as a gift for the daughter of lesbian mums you know? It would be a pretty cool present. You can dedicate the book with a message especially for her too, and that will be printed on the dedication page inside the book.
(Oh, and about print-on-demand. It’s not that complicated really. It’s just a technology that allows individual copies to be printed to order. We have to re-create the files with the new name and dedication and then we upload to Blurb, who print the books for us. It’s a bit costly to do it this way, as every book is created from scratch but it’s a pretty special thing to have a book with your name in it, so it’s worth it).
